The all-in-one GIS software trusted by professionals around the world is about to get even better with advanced features and tools.
Coinciding with the version 23 release, scheduled for September 2021, a new Pro version will be introduced enhancing and expanding the core capabilities of the software with numerous new and improved tools. Global Mapper Pro® will incorporate all of the powerful point cloud processing tools that were previously available in the Global Mapper Lidar Module and will offer a slew of new professional-grade geospatial tools including:
Automatic Breakline Extraction Tool – Analyze curvature in digital terrain model, and automatically extract breaklines. Different from contour generation, this tool creates lines only at breakpoints where there is a change in elevation, rather than at a specified elevation.
Scripting Tools – Create, manage, and run scripts in a new script dialog. A tabbed interface provides the ability to run and troubleshoot multiple scripts at the same time.
Support for Python Scripting – New integration of python scripting now supports the creation, editing, and manipulation of python scripts that use functionality embedded in Global Mapper. This new feature allows users to interact with Global Mapper in real-time using external python libraries and gives access to format and analysis functionality available inside the application within a python toolchain.
Ability to Automatically Generate Vectorization from Imagery/Terrain – Streamlining the creation of vector features from raster data, areas and lines are automatically generated based on the present pixel values, simplified, and smoothed all in one step.
RTK Correction Support - View and collect data using an external RTK GNSS device with Global Mapper.
Improved Lidar Classification on mixed density point clouds – Improvements to the lidar building and tree classification algorithm allow the tools to work better and faster on point clouds with mixed density, including terrestrial lidar and photo-generated point clouds.
Select Lidar by Segment – With updates to the building and vegetation classification methods, point clouds are divided into clusters, or segments, in order to identify distinct features. Users are now able to select these clusters of points to manually custom classify them or do other editing operations.
Terrain Painting Updates - Manually modify terrain with the Terrain Painting tool by selecting existing vector features or painting on the terrain using a brush defined in linear unit size (meters or feet).
